What proportion of my fundraising will go to charity?

We have a minimum 50:50 policy here at Choose a Challenge. This means the amount your charity pays us in lieu of your trip costs can never represent more than 50% of your fundraising target. This is to ensure that a significant proportion of your donations always remains with the charity, in aid of the vital work they do.

In many cases, the overall amount of fundraising retained by the charity is significantly higher than 50%. For instance, if you decide to continue raising money above and beyond your minimum sponsorship requirement, 100% of this surplus is pledged to your charity.

Each of our overseas trekking challenges has three fundraising options, which are illustrated on Page 3 of your Challenge Information Pack. This means you can opt to contribute more towards your trip costs in return for a reduction in your fundraising target. The more you pledge to contribute towards those trip costs, the lower your fundraising target will be.

If you need to cancel your booking due to any unforeseen circumstances prior to your place being confirmed (typically at seven weeks before departure), then 100% of the money you have raised is pledged to your chosen charity.

We hope you found the above information useful. If you have any questions or concerns about your fundraising milestones and/or support, please contact the fundraising team at your chosen charity and they will be more than happy to help.
